Are Parallel Universes possible?

I am a die hard fan of the show Fringe. I love it because everything on the show seems like it is possible. So I am curious if the theory of Parallel Universes is true and could a person really travel between them? Also on the show they demonstrate reanimation... is that possible in reality?
